I want to thank everyone who stopped by and commented on the changes I've been thinking about making. It means a lot to me that other bloggers/readers are willing to offer advice and encouragement, especially since this blog is less than 6 months old still.
Some of the changes I've decided on are as follows, though none will happen until the first of the new year.
1. The Library Thing widget will disappear.
2. While I will continue to accept and pass on awards, I will no longer display them. I was considering doing a separate post or a tab since they were some great ideas I got from the feedback, but I just don't have the time to do it right now. Maybe when works slows down I will end up doing it.
3. All challenges I join will be posted together without the graphics. I will still give the links back to the challenge site but having so many pictures on my sidebar is distracting me.
There may be some smaller tweaks coming up, not that these are major by any means, but I haven't quite made up my mind yet.
Now for the fun news. I will be starting a new giveaway on January 1st to celebrate the new year and reaching 100 Google followers. I'm still fleshing out the details but I think you guys will like it.
Congrats on 100+ followers Ryan! I can't wait to see the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI love your changes. I changed my LT widget too, to something smaller, and love my new one :)
Tweaking around with your blog is always fun :)
I'm going to be creating a separate page for all of my challenges, I think. I definitely couldn't handle them all in my sidebars.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 100 followers!
ReplyDeleteYay for giveaways! I think those are smart changes - good luck putting them together. :)
ReplyDeleteI somehow missed that post that you where wanting to make changes. I don't know how I did that... Oh well, I have been thinking on the same lines. I feel I am getting to cluttered on my blog. But, I will have to make more time to play with the blog and change it around. Time... lol...
ReplyDeleteBy the way Congrats on breaking 100 followers!
I kept meaning to come by and comment on your changes post, but I forgot...doh!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you have to do what you think is best for your blog. Personally, stuff on the sidebar doesn't bother me, although I think I am going to have to post all my challenges on my challenge blog and link to them since I'm going to be signing up for TONS in 2010! I understand about change though, as you know I'm getting ready to announce a new direction and an AWESOME giveway (for 100+ followers) on mine.
Yeah, I also stopped displaying the awards. I needed to make things as simple as possible for 2010 due to the grad school/work combo :)
ReplyDeleteThese changes sound practical, and whatever makes blogging more fun (which might mean simplifying things) is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and congrats on the 100+ followers!
Congrats on the 100+ followers.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the reveal! It' so time consuming to make major updates but usually worth the effort. I have a color table that I can share with you for blogger if you are interested.
ReplyDeleteI just made several changes to my site, I decided to add 'about me' as it's own tab - I put tab links at the top.
Email me if you would like me tips (they are links I can forward).
Good Luck!!
Hey - cool blog! I just found you and am following now - looking forward to the "redesign" and what you have to say!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Greg

The New Year is a great time to make changes. I look forward to seeing the new look!
ReplyDeleteI stole Michelle's idea of having a separate challenge blog and it makes it easier to keep track of them and keep them updated. I really like moving alot of things from my sidebar. Some just got moved to the bottom, so they are still there but not distracting.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 100 followers! I have 4 more to go and then I will be doing another giveaway
The plans sound great, and am looking forward to seeing the redesigned look! I wound up getting rid of the LibraryThing widgit as well, probably for the same reasons. Agree that setting up a new design or different pages takes time, but it's fun to tweak and play with! :)
