Wordsmithonia Radio Goes Country

So I was catching up on my blog reading this weekend, and I happened to stumble upon a country music post by my good friend Jamie of Jamie Loves Stuff.  She had a lot of songs on there that I really do enjoy, but I was looking for some of my favorites that weren't on there.  So I decided to do my own country music post.  I could share the songs that started running through my mind when I stumbled upon her post.

Some of them are older than I am, others are from my school days, and a few may be a bit newer than that.  But they all bring a smile to my face, and recall a person or a memory to my mind.  Now this won't be a full list of all the country songs I like, but it will give you an idea of the type of country that gets my foot tapping and heart skipping.

Some good ones in there! I also like old skool Rosanne Cash, Willie Nelson, Michael Martin Murphy, and Johnny Cash.

Dolly looks so young in that video. Have you heard the slowed down version of Jolene? http://www.buzzfeed.com/briangalindo/dolly-partons-slowed-down-version-of-jolene-is-hauntingly-be

Wow the songs you picked are older. I like some country. Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, George Straight, Dixie Chicks, and.. well not sure who else.

Great choices and some real blasts from the past I would add Reba's Whoever's In New England

Oooohhhhh Ryan! You posted some GREAT ones! I love, love, love Jolene! My mom was in LOVE with Vince Gill and the duet with Reba you posted is perfect! Oh man... memories.

You know since you posted Kenny Rogers, I have an overwhelming desire to watch the Gambler! LOL

Great selections!

I definitely went through a country phase, and Emmy Lou Harris (who was conspicuous by her absence on your list) is still a favorite of mine. I think Mary Chapin Carpenter is my current favorite--her Xmas album is outstanding.

Dolly Parton is a national treasure--I do prefer Coat of Many Colors and The Last Thing on my Mind (with Porter Wagoner).

I also always loved Waylon Jennings voice, and Don Williams too.

Ah, memories!
