Mailbox Monday for 10/17/11

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme created by Marcia at A Girl and Her Books and is being hosted all this month by Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit.

I received an ARC of A Train In Winter by Caroline Moorehead for an upcoming TLC Book Tour.

I won a trade paperback of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson from Bea of Bea's Book Nook.

The lovely Melissa of My World...In Words And Pages sent along a hardcover of Wolf Hall by Hillary Mantel.

I bought Oliver And Company on DVD

The Lottery looks intriguing to me. I haven't thought about Oliver and Company in ages - what a treat it will be to watch that!

The Lottery is a great Halloween book... Oliver and Company is great too.

Love the song: "why should I worry? why should I care?"

I think of The Lottery often, that book really stuck with me from when I had to read it in school.

The Lottery is a book we had to read in school and one of the ones that I enjoyed most...though enjoy may not be the best term for it.

I am loving the cover on A Train in Winter! It sounds like a heart wrenching story. I love stories of friendship so I may be putting this on my wish list. It sounds like a powerful book.

Wolf Hall was really good, sure it took me some time to read it, and sometimes I was confused but the writing was superb

You received some lovely books! I can't believe I still haven't read WOLF HALL. And I'd love to read A TRAIN IN WINTER. And I LOVE Shirley Jackson. I couldn't believe it when I once had a conversation with a college English professor who had never heard of her! Enjoy your new reads!

From all my years of school one of the few things I remember clearly is reading The Lottery in seventh grade. Boy, did that story stay with me!
