Mailbox Monday for 9/19/11

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme created by Marcia at A Girl and Her Books and is being hosted all this month by Leah at Amused By Books.

I received a trade paperback of Pumpkin Roll by Josi S. Kilpack for an upcoming blog tour.

On my last trip to Borders before it closed I bought 4 books for $10.  There wasn't much left, otherwise I would have gotten more.  I bought a hardcover of Obama's Wars by Bob Woodward, trade paperbacks of The Simple Act of Murder by Raymond Chandler and Rainbow Road by Alex Sanchez, and a paperback of Of Masques and Martyrs by Christopher Golden.

  2. Hard to say that last goodbye to Borders. My goal now is to spend more time at my local indie bookstore, but it's a bit out of the way. Still, if it disappears too, I'll really be heartbroken.

  4. I worked my usual Sunday morning and then went in that next Saturday for clean up, because they officially closed doors that Friday. I guess it went down to 10 cents and I was kind of kicking myself for not going but my boss said there was nothing great left and it was just too sad. :(

  9. Pumpkin Roll looks like a great read for Fall. I did quite a bit of damage at our Borders last week. Three days before closing and they still had many great titles.

  13. You made some good buys, Ryan. Especially THE SIMPLE ART OF MURDER by Raymond Chandler.

    The essay's most famous line:

"Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean..."

  15. I gorged myself on Borders deals a couple weeks ago. Did I need all the books I bought? No. Do I even have time to read all the books I bought? No. But, still, had to have them.

  16. Isn't is sad that Borders is gone? :( ... The cover of Pumpkin Rolls makes me hungry, and for some reason, whenever I see that title "Obama's Wars", I think of the irony, as those wars were in full swing when he took office. Enjoy your reading week!
