Mailbox Monday for 8/15/11


Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme created by Marcia at A Girl and Her Books and is being hosted all this month by Staci at Life in the Thumb.



On a quick trip to Borders I picked up two trade paperbacks, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.  I'm thinking that I'll only get to go there one more time before they close, so we'll see what I end up with then.


I received a trade paperback of Ivan And Misha by Michael Alenyikov for an upcoming TLC Book Tour.


I received a hardcover of Fire Monks by Colleen Morton Busch.  The lovely Sheila of Book Journey forwarded this one along to me.


I won We've Seen Santa by Tiffany Higgins from Michelle of The Christmas Spirit.


I won a One Day by David Nicholls prize pack.  I'm not sure which site I won it from though.  If anyone knows, please let me know.

    You made quite a haul this week! I want to make another trip to Borders sometime soon, I just don't know when (or if) it's going to happen.

    Love Mark Twain! Its been such a long time since I've read Tom Sawyer. Enjoy your new reads :)

    For what it's worth -- Huck Finn really works best as an audio book- listening to dialect works better for me than reading. Fabulous book, either way. Tom Sawyer is a book for kids; Huck Finn is a book for adults.

    The One Day package looks really neat! I thought of Sheila right away when I saw Fire Monks as she is the only person I;ve seen review it so far. Have fun with your reading! Maybe read and have cake at the same time and you'll feel a bit better?

    You had a good week! Fire Monks looks really good! I enjoyed One Day, but not as much as everyone else seemed to, so I'll be anxious to see what you think of it.

    I have yet to make the trek to our closest Borders. I want to but I have sooo many books here waiting to be read. Congrats on winning the One Day pack. That was a very cool giveaway!

    Fire Monks is something I've also seen on some review blogs and everyone I know has enjoyed it for its insight of life from an original perspective. The monks fought valiantly against the odds and I hear it is quite inspirational.

    I won my One Day prize pack from Alyce from At Home with Books. Not sure if she was giving away more than one. Aren't those Moleskine journals to die for? What an awesome prize pack! We were so lucky to win.

    I haven't been to Borders yet. I'm not sure where one is around here and when it will close for good. Darn, maybe I need to look into it.
