Nice review and Vincent Price was such a great actor. I haven't seen that many films of his but I did see Whales of August one of the final films he did. Price costars with Betty Davis, Lillian Gish (who was then 93) and Ann Southern. It's not a horror film. The setting is the Maine coast where Betty and Lillian are sisters and Ann Southern and Vincent Price are neighbors and it's very touching,
I've not seen that one. I'll have to look it up. Thanks for the recommendation.
Your comment about not enjoying historical fiction in reading but you do in viewing is interesting! I get that - I enjoy both, currently rewatching The Tudors - Henry VIII is a strange fascination with me ( the era, the man...) This rewatch was spun out on my recent read of The Boleyn Traitor... I will probably by back on Reign next (based on the life of Mary Queen of Scots)...... damn the Tudors lol
I adore classic movies - mid-30s through early 60s. Somehow even though Gene Tierney is one of my favorites I haven't seen this one but I need to watch it.
I don't think its odd at all that you process historicals better in movie format better than books. I like oldies with gothic atmosphere and I hadn't watched this one. Thanks for putting it on my radar.
I've thought about watching The Tudors or that Serpent Queen show. At least I think that's the name of it.
It's a beautiful movie.
If you watch it, I hope you like it.
