Goodbye, Goldengirl

The lovely Rue McClanahan passed away as a result of a stroke early today.  Most of us know her as Blanche Devereaux, the saucy man crazed scene stealer from The Golden Girls

As Blanche, Rue gave off such a air of confidence and style that you couldn't help but fall in love with her.  She was loud and so much fun to watch every week.  She is the main reason I can't turn the show off when I catch it syndication as I'm channel surfing.

Rue was a staunch animal rights activist and was one of the first celebrities to become a spokesperson for PETA.

Whether in her personal life or professional, Rue was a true star who shall be missed by us all.

When I was a kid, I always said I wanted to be like her character on Golden Girls when I got older.

I'm going to miss her.

Golden Girls is a favorite of mine, even in reruns.

I felt sad when Bea Arthur died, too. Is there anyone left? Oh, yes...Betty White.

I'm pausing here to reflect on all that these wonderful actors brought to our lives.

I was so sad when I heard about Rue's passing this morning! I loved all the Golden Girls. Imagine how Betty White must feel being the last living Golden Girl.

One curtain has closed, and the eternal stage is yours, Rue, the classy lady...

The Golden Girls is one of those shows I used to watch with my mother when I was younger. Blanche was a great characters. Made me realize that getting older might not be so bad. Sad to hear about her passing away.

I was sorry to hear this one. It is a shame. But, she seemed to have a great time while she was here - at least on the screen. :) This is a depressing year with all the wonderful stars passing on.
