I...I'm very interested in this subject matter. In fact I read a fictional exploration of journalistic photographs in The Painter of Battles by Perez Reverte which made me re-examine some very famous, iconic photographs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8144784325334181261.post-38649031180254638862011-08-31T14:39:14.674-05:002011-08-31T14:39:14.674-05:00This sounds like a fascinating book. I'd love to read it and find out some of the back stories behind those pictures that you mention.<br />Unfortunately, those of us in Israel are familiar with the ways photographs can be used to manipulate viewers and misconstrue the truth since it's done quite often by the media. In one famous case, several years ago, the BBC and Yahoo news posted pictures of an Israeli soldier pointing a gun at an injured teenage boy, making it look like he was about to shoot. But that boy was actually a Jewish yeshiva boy who the soldier (who had a gun strapped on his back) was helping to stand up. Sadly this happens quite often and most people don't bother finding out the truth behind the images. (sorry for going on a bit of rant, but it's a sore subject)Simchahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14730042073954228379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8144784325334181261.post-6655233275014045652011-08-31T13:02:30.218-05:002011-08-31T13:02:30.218-05:00Context is everything....great review!Context is everything....great review!Stacihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07600979915661464945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8144784325334181261.post-45269451345131958022011-08-31T12:12:06.452-05:002011-08-31T12:12:06.452-05:00That does sound fascinating.
